The Goodness of 50 Cents

Entertainers make a handsome living but not all have giving hearts. Some feel that Rappers are so consumed with the negative things in life (alcohol, cursing, drugs, etc) that they seldom have time for the positive. Some think that their Music Videos are the definitive truth of who they really are - in content and context. So why are people who work the art of Musical Poetry often singled out?

A lot of Actors portray criminal roles, sometimes they are called to do the most evil things on screen but this is never ever counted against them.  Consider The Silence of the Lambs, The Godfather Trilogy, Goodfellas, etc. Have Antony Hopkins, Al Pacino, Robert De Niro, Marlon Brando, Joe Pesci and Ray Liotta, ever been singled out as vicious human beings setting bad examples? Are Martin Scorsese and Jonathan Demme promoting and spewing violence? Absolutely not, these are the great award winning Actors and Directors of our time. There has never been any confusion about these consummate Professionals.

I wonder why many seem surprised at the goodness of  50 Cents. Here stands a gifted Actor/Corporate Giant/ Musical Poet aka. Rapper with a giving heart. Let's extend the same understanding and consideration as we do other Professional Entertainers by separating the person from the art - there is, after all, a distinct difference.
