A Triumphant Memorial For Don Cornelius

The public memorial held yesterday at The Museum of Broad Communications for the pioneering and ground breaking Don Cornelius was by all accounts a great celebration of his remarkable life. As I listened last night to the stories from those who knew him best, my thoughts were of how much of a privilege it must have been to have known such a gifted, loyal and giving person. One of his friends said "love, peace and soul do not begin to describe the man that was Don Cornelius."

You can see the reports at CBS 2 CHICAGO and also at ABC 7 NEWS CHICAGO

  1. Truly a geat loss to the music industry. I used to really enjoy watching the reruns of Soul Train - those old school dances were fun to watch! :)

  2. An enormous loss.I wish he was appreciated much more when he was still with us. He should have been given a BET Honors Award, several Grammys, American Music Awards, MTV Awards, Inductions into various Halls of Fame, etc. Fortunately, there was a special 40th Anniversary Soul Train Event on Labor Day last year. He appreciated that. You could tell from the photos that he was quite ill as he seemed to have lost a lot of weight.
