What do the 18th Duchess of Alba de Tormes, Grandee of Spain and Mr. Dick Van Dyke have in common? Answer - on the 23rd of this month the Duchess (who is listed in the Guinness Book of Records as the most titled member of the nobility in the world) will join his rank as a whopping 86 year old. Correct but that's not the answer I want to hear right now. Permit me to expound: these Octagenarians believe and demonstrate that since one only lives once, then live to the fullest one must! The prolific Actor announced that he had married 40 year old make-up Artist, Arlene Silver "on the spur of the moment" a couple of weeks ago.

The new Mrs. Van Dyke has not been named a Toygirl, Trophy Wife or Gold Digga, her Husband has not been called a Sugar Daddy, Dirty Old Man, etc. "She's young enough to be his daughter" shrieks have been completely silent...blah, blah, blah. In October last year, the media was abuzz and aflame with negativity and snide remarks when the Duchess announced her impending nuptials to a 60 year old. Can someone please explain why Society continues to label Ladies who marry younger Gentlemen - Cougars, Sugar Mommies, Cradle Robbers and their Husbands Toyboys, Oedipus-Complex-Baby Boys, Searching-4-Mom-Baby Boys,etc? What's going on, why is it OK for him/them but not for her/us? Perlease...!
