HERE'S THE NOT-SO-REAL NEWS....Priest Who Denied Lesbian Communion Removed, Priest Who Refused To Give Lesbian Couple Communion Suspended, Priest Who Denied Lesbian Couple Communion Placed On Leave...blah, blah, blah! Salacious headlines never fail to spark interest and make money....this is most inappropriate when the truth is tarnished.
HERE'S THE REAL NEWS....."he covered the bowl with the Eucharist with his hand and looked at me saying, I can not give you communion because you live with a woman and that is a sin in the eyes of the Church" - according to Ms. Barbara Johnson. We learn that the Priest walked out of the service while she was delivering her eulogy, worst of all he refused to go to the graveside and caused her family considerable distress. The entire matter culminated in a dreadful situation such that another Priest had to be summoned to complete Father Marcel Guarnizo's job.
UPDATED REAL NEWS.....the Washington DC Archdiocese has confirmed that the Father is now on administrative leave for his intimidating conduct towards parish staff and many others, the leave is not related in any way to his lack of refusal to give communion. It appears that the writing had been on the wall for Father G who simply refused to read it and modify his conduct hence the consequence. What about the late Mother who deserved final prayers before being placed six feet under.... at the graveside? One can not argue: the suspension is in order. Meanwhile the Archdiocese has launched an official inquiry and will resolve matters with the anticipation that Father Marcel Guarnizo will return to the Ministry. Hopefully not before he is kinder, calmer, sensitive and objective - might I add.
Ms. Johnson issued a statement: "while we understand this letter does not pertain to the events that occurred at our mother's funeral, we are hopeful that Bishop Knestout's decision will ensure that no others will have to undergo the traumatic experiences brought upon our family. We urge all Catholics to put aside political points of view and pray that our church will remain in Christ's love."
GOD'S NEWS.....The Holy Bible is the undiluted word of God, A same-sex couple can not pass as one in Christ and therefore can not be part of the sanctified act of Holy Communion. Those who choose to dilute the word of God do so at their own peril. God's word is clear and final, it can not be re-written to accommodate those walking outside the faith in the Body of World when it does not suit and inside the faith in The Body of Christ when it does. ROMANS 12:2 - "And be ye not conformed to this world; but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind that you may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God."
