NEWS - CNBC Africa Is Wrong Must Stand Corrected

Ms. Arunma Oteh
Newly Appointed World Bank Vice President & Treasurer

CNBC Africa tweeted:

[    "World Bank gets its first African Woman Vice President."   ]  @cnbcafrica

Oby Ezekwesili double-checked, calling Google a friend. She then offered:

[   "Ngozi O-Iweala was Vice President & Corporate Secretary. Oby Ezekwesili was Vice President Africa Region. Arunma Oteh is now Vice President/Treasurer." :)   ] @obyezeks

CNBC Africa clarified:

[   "Ngozi O-Iweala was MD of the World Bank. Oby Ezekwesili was Vice President of Africa Region, not World Bank."   ]  @cbncafrica

We at JuicyChitChats say:

"CNBC Africa is wrong and must stand corrected. Their original tweet is completely incorrect. Since Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala is a former Managing Director, Vice President and Corporate Secretary of the World Bank, it stands to reason that Arunma Oteh is not the first African Woman Vice President of the World Bank.

A Managing Director is equivalent to a Senior Vice President and/or CEO."

  1. CNBC Africa's rationale is ridiculous. In Africa/Europe, it's Managing Director before Chairperson. In the USA, it's CEO before Chairperson. You are an Executive or Senior VP before you hit the position of CEO or Managing Director. CNBC Africa is jiving & making something out of nothing. NOI is the 1st African Woman World Bank Vice President. PERIOD.
