Femi Fani-Kayode
The enormously grateful and spiritually encouraged, Mr. Fani-Kayode gave an interesting speech part of which said: "...As a mark of honor and respect for the Lord and as an everlasting testimony of my love for and dedication to him, I wish to make it known to the Nigerian public that as from today my name will be changed. It will no longer be David Oluwafemi Fani-Kayode but instead it shall be David Oluwafemi Olukayode. Olukayode means "the Lord has brought me joy" and today He has done precisely that.......the Lord was with me. I stood on His words in Isaiah 59v.7-9 and I never faltered or doubted Him even in the most difficult times. Now they know that I serve a mighty God who never forsakes His own."
Mr. Fani-Kayode is currently divorced, be that as it may and regardless of the reasons, his previous marriages have produced the most beautiful daughters. A Traditional Marriage/Engagement between Ms. Temi Fani-Kayode and Mr. Jaiye Randle was held on Sunday, 5th July at The Imperial at The Coliseum, Lagos. The Bride's Mother, Stepfather, Siblings, Family and Friends were all in attendance however the only person absent from the profoundly joyous occasion was Mr. Fani-Kayode himself.
Absolutely, one can read between the lines: even if the Brides' Parents are not on good terms; even if the Bride's Stepfather is a better Dad; even if the Bride's Stepfather paid for everything; even if....no doubt you understand. The fact is Femi Fani-Kayode is the Bride's Father, without him there would be no Temi Fani-Kayode in the first place. It is so unfortunate that individuals were unable to put aside their differences in order to proceed peacefully. Most importantly, Mr. Fani-Kayode should have made it his business and top priority to attend his daughters traditional marriage regardless. After all, Temi and her siblings are still and will always be the bundles of joy God has gifted Mr. Fani-Kayode AKA Mr. Olukayode. Which ever way you spin the tale, they are and will always be his daughters, full stop.

Dear Mr. Olukayode, please know that the spiritual rationale behind your name change is of no impact if your words speak louder than your actions. If you were told to be absent last Sunday you ought to have known better and made it your earnest business to be present. I suggest you truly live in God's joy, wisdom and forgiveness such that you walk ALL your daughters down the Church aisle and usher their hands to your Sons in-law. You have no choice, you can not afford to embrace the role of a proud Absentee Father Of The Bride - such is a dishonor to yourself, all your daughters and God Himself. Going forward, please do not deprive yourself of your Beloved Daughters regardless of their positive relationship with their Stepfather and Mother. So, whatever has brought this ludicrous state of affairs to such an impasse, please kindly repair. Temi's formal exchange of vows with Jaiye beckons. We trust you will be there to lift her veil after all "you serve an Almighty God who never forsakes His own." Enough said.

DeleteTERRIBLE FATHER
ReplyDeleteYou can't judge him to be terrible cos you don't know what happened or how he truly feels. We have to be objective and hope the family resolves their issues.
DeleteI refuse to object
DeleteUnbelievable
ReplyDeleteThis is not our culture. The extended family should not have allowed such a thing to happen, they did not perform their duties properly. Not ok!!!!
