SPORTS - OPINION: LaMarcus Aldridge Makes His Splash

Over the exciting and very busy Independence Day weekend, NBA Free Agency hit it's peak as the marquee player, LaMarcus Aldridge from the Portland Trailblazers, signed a 4 year, $80 million deal with the San Antonio Spurs. Aldridge who is one of the top big men in the League will now give the Spurs an added dimension of star power which already features 4 outstanding players. I believe these to be Tim Duncan, Tony Parker, Manu Ginobili and Kawhi Leonard.

At the start of the next season, they should be the prohibited favorite to win the Western Conference. I think they are going to have an outstanding team which could pose a lot of problems for other match-ups with their length, depth and technical ability. Having the best coach in the NBA (Gregg Popavich) whose system is predicated on ball movement and spacing should help Aldridge flourish. It should be fun to watch.
