"During my stay with the Gawanni family in Malawi, I joined the women collecting drinking water. I carried 20 liters and it was tough. Meanwhile Chrissy (middle) is carrying 40 liters. Many women do this everyday." - Melinda Gates
"Helping wash the dishes during my homestay in Malawi. Women spend much of the day cooking and then cleaning up. It's a reminder that it's a lot more time consuming to do dishes when you can't just turn on the faucet." - Melinda Gates

ReplyDeleteRural living is OK but let's not give the impression that technology is obsolete in Malawi and the rest of Africa. They live like this cos they choose to. You can turn on the faucet, trust me, no need to put heavy containers on your head if you work to put the structures in place. It's up to them (& their men).
ReplyDeletelol. acting backward for no good reason.
ReplyDeleteMelinda Gates is a very humble person with good values. She does good work for the foundation. She must be a nice person. God bless her.
