NEWS - President Buhari Affirms Confidence In NYSC

President Buhari sees the National Youth Service Corps as a path to national unity, integration and promotion. He pledged to improve and maintain the NYSC program because he believes it to be very essential and relevant to Nigeria's national development.

The President was briefed by Mrs. Rabi Jimeta, Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Youth. The Director-General of the NYSC, Brigadier-General Olawunmi revealed plans to make the program voluntary in order to maintain sustainability. President Buhari said "whenever I go home to Daura, I look out for corp members from Lagos to Aba and other parts of the country. I am always thrilled to learn that except for the NYSC, some of them have never left their states of origin to visit other parts of the country."

  1. Some people might be working while in school so it is not fair for them to leave it just cos of nysc. It should not be by force, the DG is on the correct track.

  3. I agree with the DG, making it voluntary would help improve on the already over-crowded camping facilities. Besides, some people would prefer to travel and/or work in other parts of the country at their own time.
