The Ford Ranger

The Ford Motor Company is now in business somewhere in Ikeja, Lagos. We are told that 10 units will be made daily. 180 direct jobs and indirect jobs will be created. Apparently the plant will eventually have the capacity to produce 5,000 units annually.

The current arrangement is that the Ikeja plant will assemble the Ford Ranger using imported parts and components from South Africa. Interesting

Mathematics is a state of mind. Dare I ask but just how many indirect jobs will this venture actually create for Nigeria? Mr. Jeff Nemeth, President/CEO of Ford Motor Company, sub-sahara Africa, feels Nigeria is a priority market and "depending on how Nigeria develops over time, we are potentially looking at using our Nigerian plant to service West Africa."
