OPINION - The Nigerian Flag Is Not Boring

The GreenWhiteGreen

I came across a little article this morning. For what ever reason, New Zealanders are not content with their flag and are in the process of taking certain measures to change it. So the question was posed about other flags. One Nigerian (who will not be named) participated in the discussion with unfavorable overtones - he said the "Nigerian flag is boring."

The Nigerian flag was designed in 1959 by Michael Akinkunmi, the then student chose colors he felt were appropriate at the time: Green to symbolize land abundant with natural wealth; White to symbolize unity and peace. As we know, the new Nigerian flag was raised on 1st October 1960 - our Independence Day.

What is wrong with abundant natural wealth, unity and peace? Any Nigerian who has an issue with these beautiful spirits has no will to see Nigeria in good faith. The earlier they pack up and depart our shores the better for the rest of us.

The GreenWhiteGreen is one of the most beautiful flags in the world. Green stands for prosperity, promotion, progress, good pasture, good land, abundant income, financial excellence, etc. I need not expound White. Suffice to say, there is beauty in every single color.

Boring? Perish the thought.
