Kayode Abraham Ajulo
Last week President Muhammadu Buhari was in Iran to attend the Gas Exporting Countries Forum, then he headed to France for the UN Climate Change Conference (aka. The COP21: Paris) and at this very moment even as I write, Mr. President is now in South Africa for the China-Africa Forum.
In response to President Buhari's trips, here is a piece from Today.Ng entitled: NIGERIAN SITUATION DEMANDS A PRESIDENT THAT IS ON GROUND.
In response to President Buhari's trips, here is a piece from Today.Ng entitled: NIGERIAN SITUATION DEMANDS A PRESIDENT THAT IS ON GROUND.
The National Secretary of Labour Party (LP), Mr. Kayode Abraham Ajulo, has implored President Muhammadu Buhari to stop travelling across the globe because the current situation confronting the country requires his full attention.
Ajulo who spoke over weekend in Abuja described as unfortunate and abnormal, Mr. President’s incessant trips at a time there were allegations of missing soldiers, excruciating economic situation, scarcity of fuel as well as untamed terrorist attacks.
According to him, Ministers are well positioned to do the travels while Mr. President, who also doubles as the Petroleum Minister stays back and address so many pressing national issues.
The Barrister went further to relate President Buhari’s uncontrollable travels to earlier insinuations that he disguises under official trips to attend to his medical needs.
His words: “Nigerian situation needs attention more than anything else. Ministers are well positioned to do what he is traveling to do. Nigerians voted for him to take care of national problems first, not only on foreign affairs.
“What we should urge him is to stay back and take care of things. Nigerians voted him as President and not minister of foreign affairs or President of international community.
“We all saw what happened recently when France was attacked. The President stayed at home and showed that he was on ground. Boko Haram strike here everyday and more than the number killed in France die here every time. There is also an issue of whether 160 Soldiers are missing or not, yet, we have a Commander-In-Chief who is not even on ground, then something is wrong”.
Adding: “Unless he wants Nigerians to read meaning to his travelings. As we know, anybody above 70 years is prone to illness. There is tendency for incapacitation for anybody above 70 all over the world.
“That is the reason the Supreme Court Judge is expected to retire at 70. Except he wants us to insinuate that his incessant traveling is to take care of one ailment or the other.”

"...anybody above 70 years is prone to illness." Is age discrimination necessary, isn't this a little under the belt?
Does Attorney Ajulo make some cogent points here or is this sour grapes politics? What do you think?

He makes some valid points but I don't think Buhari's age is relevant. He should just stick to the facts.
ReplyDeleteAjulo is correct. Buhari must see to Nigerian matters first. He has been traveling too much. There are a lot of issues on the ground that he must attend to. Minister of Foreign Affairs!!!!
ReplyDeletePresident of the International Community!!!!!!
DeleteHe's living young. Let him be Mr. Ajulo
ReplyDeleteApart from the age discrimination, I agree 100% with Mr. Ajulo. We have too many issues to deal with, President should delegate more. He must see to Nigerian matters first, unemployment, poverty, job creation, improving our Armed Forces, allow a free economy instead of interfering with people's personal banking. It's ridiculous. Anon@BlahBlah
ReplyDeleteToo true. How can you be President and Petroleum Minister? This is going to be too much work. I think he should delegate and entrust the work of P.M. to somebody else. He can not do everything.
DeletePresident Buhari is control-freaking. He must learn to let others do their jobs. He needs to stay home and face the nation.
DeleteNot too sure what to make of this cos Ajulo is for the opposition. I must admit that he does speak the truth. While Buhari is playing Minister for International Affairs who's taking care of Presidential matters on the ground. Yes o, he's been traveling waaaay toooo much. There's a lot going on right here at home that President Buhari must see to quickly.
