WATCH - American Student Detained In Korea Cries and Begs For Forgiveness

The world received its first glimpse of the American student, 21 year old Otto Frederick Warmbier, who has been held in North Korea for the last two months, when he appeared in Court earlier today. The University of Virginia student is accused of attempting to steal a North Korean banner containing a political slogan from  the his hotel walls. It is also alleged that Warmbier was encouraged to commit a hostile attack by an Ohio Church and a secretive university society. He was arrested by the North Korean government on 2nd January 2016. He was in the country strictly as a tourist.

His arrest was purportedly due to an incident at the Yanggakdo International Hotel where he was staying with approximately 100 other westerners, including other American citizens, all of whom left North Korea without incident. 

Earlier today Warmbier "confessed to stealing the banner from the hotel's staff-only section to take back to the United States as a "trophy" for somebody willing to pay him a $20,000 reward.  

The U.S. Government declined to comment on Warmbier's situation because of privacy concerns.
