England defeated the host nation, Canada 2-1 and have advanced to the semi-finals. This is a historical win for the entire United Kingdom as it is the first time ever that the Ladies from any of the regions have advanced to the semi-final phase of World Cup Soccer. Ian Wright said: So proud of  #Eng women getting to the WWCSF! Absolutely brilliant!

Gary Lineker added: Great to see the England Women's FIFWWC result last night and could there be more to come?
