Helen Aller is a Guernsey, Channel Islands, UK-based photographer who though it would be a good idea to capture these enthralling images of Mother and Child after a C-section.

For those who are not familiar with the term, C-section is an abbreviated word for the medical procedure known as the Caesarian Section. The 100% surgical procedure involves cutting through the wall of the Mother's abdomen in order to bring forth the child and/or children. A C-section is normally performed when a natural birth through the Mother's vagina might or indeed will definitely put the Child/Children and/or Mother's life at risk. The complications that necessitate such a procedure are usually known in advance or unfortunately (as in a lot of cases) appear unexpectedly at the last minute. The C-section is a major operation.

We are informed that the unnamed subjects' in the above photograph were saved by the procedure. The powerful images signify the sacrificial yet beautiful reality of Childbirth and Motherhood.
