LeBron James will give 100% full scholarships to his I PROMISE Kids.  The news was revealed at a special 'Family Reunion" event accompanied by masses of cheers, musical contributions from the University of Akron's Marching Band and fireworks.

At a news conference the LeBron James Family Foundation announced that it is "proud to partner with President Scarborough, University of Akron and Chase for our kids and their future." Mr. James and President Scarborough of Akron University, Ohio, were part of the Cedar Point Excursion for over 5,000 children and family members. Scarborough said the University will work with the Foundation over the next few years to raise funds for tuition and other fees for the first set of beneficiaries - the graduating class of 2021. Scarborough told the I PROMISE kids "you have a college scholarship at the University of Akron when you graduate high school ...what do you dream to be? Do you dream to be a teacher? A scientist? An engineer or doctor? This college scholarship is your way to make that happen and all because this man believes in you," with an acknowledging reference to James.

As a precaution the University will adjust and prioritize its financial aid program to ensure college is free and that the promise sustained. A four year scholarship is estimated  to cost $38,000. The President said "our goal is to make it reasonable, to make it to a level that these kids have a good chance of succeeding at the University of Akron...the more students who get there, the better."

James proudly stated that "this is one of the best things I have ever been part of...kids don't really grow up thinking beyond high school...because college is not a realistic future for many...kids need to see a finish line."

Approximately 2,300 students are expected to benefit over the next few years. President Scarborough anticipates continuous renewal such that venture will benefit thousands more.
