TELEVISION - My Nigeria: Al Jazeera's Positive First Hand Accounts From Africa Largest Economy

Al Jazeera English has released a first person, six episode documentary entitled My Nigeria. The Head of Documentaries Al Jazeera English, Ingrid Falck offered: "the series was commissioned specifically to support Al Jazeera English's brand...to hear the human story, to bring people's stories directly to our screens, told in a first person style without mediation, offering a range of authentic views." 

Basketmouth (Bright Okpocha) displays his gift for comedy. Please view the first episode Basketmouth: Trash Talking which premiered Monday, 24th August.

The four remaining forthcoming episodes are:
Gbenga Sesan: Connecting A Million will air Monday, 7th September.

Deola Sagoe: Top Draw will air Monday, 14th September. 

Femi Bamigboye: Local Man will air Monday, 21st September. 

Sandra Aguebor: Lady Mechanic will air Monday, 28th September. 

The entire six part series was shot by Directors, Brian Tilley and Clifford Bestall - award winning South Africans who along with Falck shed positive light on the nation that is home to over 160 million. 

To get beyond the cliches of Africa, there isn't a better place than Nigeria. For every stereotype of corruption and extremism, there are millions of ordinary Nigerians making this African powerhouse tick. Our series focuses on these individuals to see firsthand how Nigerians are busy making a difference.  Ingrid Falck, Head of Documentaries, Al Jazeera English.
