NEWS - Sylvester Turner Is The New Mayor Of Houston

Houston Mayor-Elect Sylvester Turner

Yesterday Houston elected veteran democratic lawmaker, Sylvester Turner, as its next Mayor. The 61 year old was endorsed by President Obama. The mayoral run off was between Turner and Republican Businessman, Bill King. A republican has not been the Mayor of Houston for 30 years. 

The University of Houston and Harvard University educated Turner ran for Mayor in 1991 and 2003 losing at both attempts. He will take office 2nd January 2016.

Upon his victory, Turner said that he will work every single day to represent all Houstonians.
