Yesterday at one of the two U-23 Africa Cup of Nation's semi-final, Nigeria edged out host nation Senegal with a 1-0 win.  The penalty goal from Captin Etebo Oghenekaro at the 75th minute phase gave Nigeria a spot in Saturday's final.

There was plenty of praise for man of the match, Emanuel Daniel who did everything in his power to deny Senegal a free pass. Coach Samson Siasia said "Emanuel kept us in the match as he made some brilliant saves today, we could have been embarrassed ... I am very happy to win against Senegal again after the Africa Cup of Nations in 1992 and in achieving our objective, which was to qualify for the Olympics." A considerate Coach Siasia further stated that "we did the best we could because we had a lot of injuries but that Senegal can qualify to Rio so as to have a strong representation in Brazil."

In the second semi-final game, Algeria beat South Africa 2-0 with goals from Oussama Darfalou and Mohamed Benkhemassa.

Nigeria faces Algeria in the final match on Saturday. Whatever the outcome, both teams will definitely be in Rio de Janiero. However Senegal and South Africa will compete for U-23 third place and the third final spot available for the Rio Olympics.
