NEWS - 11 Year Old Book Lover Pushes For Change

11 year old Marley Dias was not happy about the books she was reading as they all seemed to be strictly about white boys and dogs. Her Mother encouraged her to do something about her concerns so Marley decided to focus on books her 11 year old mind could relate to. She started a book drive with the ambition of collecting 1,000 books about black girls. She created the simple hashtag: #1000BlackGirlBooks. With the help of social media, she has had enormous success.   

Marley has appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, with Larry Wilmore on The Tonight Show and on CBS This Morning. Marley has also donated 1,000 books to a primary school in her own Mother's home nation of Jamaica. She enjoys reading, writing and hopes to become Editor of her own Magazine.
