Robert L. Johnson

Owing to controversial backlash over his distributed film, Robert L. Johnson, the founder of RLJ Entertainment and also the founder of BET released the following statement about the film Nina

“Zoe Saldana delivers an exceptional and mesmerizing tribute to Nina Simone. She gave her heart and soul to the role and displayed her extraordinary talent. The most important thing is that creativity or quality of performance should never be judged on the basis of color, or ethnicity, or physical likeness. Quality entertainment should be measured by the sheer force of creativity and the commitment that an actor or actress brings to the performance. We are proud to distribute the film headlined by Zoe Saldana and David Oyelowo on April 22, 2016.”

  1. Classic reply from Mr Johnson. Skin has nothing to do with a movie part. It's the passion, commitment and focus that matters and I think Zoe was perfect for the role of Nina.

  2. The film has already been made. What's done is done. They made such a fuss when Zoe was cast as Nina two years ago. Now all this noise again. I think they should move on and get on with their own lives. No point in crying over spilled milk. Nonsense.
