Porsche and Nike have suspended their contracts with Maria Sharapova. Nike said it was "saddened and surprised" at her admission while Porsche said it was "postponing planned activities" until the situation becomes a little more clearer.

The Swiss watch maker said it was completely cutting ties with the tennis player who is one of the highest paid athletes in the world. It was only yesterday that the athlete admitted and announced that she failed a drug test at the Australian Open. She had been taking a drug called Meldonium which was officially banned by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) on January 1st this year.

Meldonium is a heart medicine that improves heart flow and blood flow. It was banned because it aids oxygen uptake and endurance.
