Mr. Don Cornelius was born and raised in Chicago. He left his $250 a week job selling insurance for Golden State Mutual Life to work in the news department at WVON Radio for $50 a week. Through this open window, he substituted as a disc jockey and host of talk shows. The rest, as they say, is history.
It is only fitting that there should be a special public memorial for Chicago's Own. This will take place at The Museum of Broadcast Communications in Chicago today. The memorial service will be from 6pm to 8pm, the doors open at 5.15pm.
If you are not in the Chicago and surrounding vicinity, please listen to the Special Memorial Broadcast live here at THE TALK OF CHICAGO WVON 1690 RADIO
