I love basket ball. I enjoy watching the game. I like Kevin Garnett. I like Carmelo Anthony.
It was very unusual to see Carmelo belligerently approach Kevin the other day: the former was enraged, the latter a little smug. What on earth could have caused such a rift in the court of the giants? Well, apparently KG was supposed to have broken the unspoken cardinal rule by trash talking 'Melo's nearest and dearest. Immediately after the game, 'Melo was seen waiting for KG (as seen on TV). It was very obvious that something was about to go down... fortunately or unfortunately, depending on one's everyday common sense reasoning, the Men-In-Black/Grey-Suits diffused the situation.
The reality is that one can not publicly hit a gentleman below the belt and then proceed to humiliate him by unzipping his pants for all to see. You and I know that such a matter can never ever transpire without punches, a few injuries and a siren-shrieking trip to the nearest ER, predictably followed by the obligatory blown out of proportion media hype, investigations, suspensions and fines. Even as I write, the latest news is that 'Melo has been suspended for one game. Is it just me, am I the only one who sees something very wrong here? What about the older, more experienced and therefore-should-be-wiser, professional athlete who quietly stoked and provoked the situation in the first instance....who checked him, who put him back in order for saying (ACCORDING TO THE GRAPEVINE) the unthinkable: 'Melo's beautiful wife, Lala, "tastes like honey nut cheerios" - Whaaaat......dayum!!! Either way, whatever KG expressed or implied, said or did not say, did or did not do - was certainly enough for 'Melo to call it just as it was.
Given the situation and circumstances of the basket ball court's ever-so-media-public arena, KG should consider himself lucky that: (1) 'Melo lived up to his mellow moniker; and, (2) that he (KG) was able to carry his nosey, trouble making, trash talking, busy-body-self, untouched, unharmed and unbroken home to his own....SMH.
OK Kevin & Carmelo, let's move on and let's play basket ball....please. Thank you.
