NEWS - History Is Made As Cuba Raises Flag In USA

Cuban Flag Hangs Inside Cuban Embassy, Washington, D.C.

In 1961, U.S. President Dwight Eisenhower broke off all diplomatic relations with Cuba. Both nations closed their embassies. After 54 years, momentous history was made yesterday the Cuban flag was raised outside and and also inside the new Embassy in Washington D.C. In doing so, Cuba and the United States of America have officially restored diplomatic ties by re-opening their respective embassies.

In April 2015, at the 7th Summit Of The Americas, ATLAPA Convention Center, Panama, both Presidents gave remarks about the restoration of diplomatic relations. On July 1st, President Obama announced that diplomatic relations had been restored, he confirmed that Secretary of State, John Kerry will be travelling to Havana, Cuba next month to celebrate the raising of the flags and hold discussions with Foreign Minister, Bruno Rodriguez. It will be recalled that Kerry said "this step is long overdue and the response of the international community has reflected the relief and the welcoming that people all over the world feel for this step."

As of yesterday, Monday 20th July, relations have now normalized.

The Havana building which housed the previous USA embassy up until 1961 was subsequently closed 1961 from to 1977. The building was then referred to as The United States Interest Section in Havana from 1977 to 2015. It is this very same building that has been re-opened and will henceforth be called The United States Embassy in Havana, Cuba. Mr. Jeffrey DeLaurentis is the Charges d'affaires ad interim.

  2. Fidel & Raul are brothers so both of them must have agreed to do this. I don't think Fidel is as senile or ill as they would like us to believe.
