The 68th United States Secretary of State, Mr. John Kerry said he was pleased to be in Havana for this historic day at the United States Embassy in Cuba. "Incredible" was how he described the entire occasion. He noted that the last time a Secretary of State visited Cuba, the then President of the United States was FDR - Franklin D. Roosevelt.
In addition to the raising of the U.S. Flag over the American Embassy, the video below also includes the historic handover of the U.S. Flag by the three Marines who originally took it down in on the orders of President Dwight Eisenhower in January 1961. They are Retired Corporal F.W. Mike East, Retired Lance Corporal Larry Morris and Retired Master Gunnery Sgt. Jim Tracy.

ReplyDeleteCan't wait to visit Cuba. Looks like a beautiful and exotic country. Human beings and nations can not be at war forever, there must be resolution and common ground. This is a good decision so all thanks to President Obama and Secretary of State Kerry for this positive step.
